I’m Emma Darlington, an English author who writes QuickStep Guides for people who love books, travel and the arts
I love to travel and love literature and the arts, and decided to write Quickstep Travel Guides for people who love to travel with a purpose in mind.
I love Jane Austen, and enjoy reading her novels and researching her life. Living in the county of Hampshire where Jane was born and lived most of her life gives me insight into who she was as a person.
I have also been lucky enough to have access to many of Jane’s treasures, old books and documents that relate to her and her family. This resulted in me writing Jane Austen’s Prayers where you can see the prayers she wrote for her family for the first time. I was also privileged to be invited to the many launch events and exhibitions in 2017 to celebrate 200 years since Jane’s death. You can read about my experiences and see Jane’s treasures in Jane Austen 200.
I have been writing the Jane Austen Quickstep Travel Guide for a while now which is coming out soon. It’s written for Jane Austen fans everywhere who want to travel to England to experience where Jane lived, shopped, danced and wrote her novels – and have fun doing it. Or you can simply follow in her footsteps from the comfort of her armchair.
Simple and easy to read, you can follow the walks around Jane’s villages, visit the towns where she lived and see what and who inspired her to write about such wonderful characters and stories.
No matter where you are in the world, I would love to hear from you, so please contact me if you want to know anything about Jane Austen or simply want to get in touch.
To quote Jane in her novel Pride and Prejudice, ‘Distance is nothing when one has a motive’.
